Insider tips in Ibiza: beaches and bays
1. Ibiza Insider Tip: Cala Olivera
On the east coast of Ibiza, at the end of a bumpy gravel road, lies Cala Olivera, a small, sheltered cove with a surprising amount of character. Surrounded by rocks and pine slopes, you'll find turquoise waters, untouched nature, and minimal infrastructure. There are no loungers, no music, and no service. Those who make the journey will be rewarded with a truly tranquil haven: ideal for swimming, soaking up the sun, or simply gazing out over the sea. Cala Olivera isn't the place for the perfect beach day with all the trimmings, but rather for a few hours of simplicity, a rare sight in Ibiza.
2. Ibiza Insider Tip: Cala Xuclar
Just a few minutes from Portinatx, hidden away on the north coast is one of the island's quietest bays: Cala Xuclar. Barely signposted, with limited parking and a bumpy access road, this spot is often reserved for those who truly seek it out.
The small pebble beach lies in a narrow rocky cove with crystal-clear water – perfect for snorkeling, but with a rocky entrance, so beach shoes are recommended. If you're lucky, you'll find a spot on the flat rocks or among the old fishermen's huts where you can read undisturbed, doze, or simply watch the light. There's a simple beach bar! It's best to bring the rest with you. Cala Xuclar isn't a place for planning. It's for letting go.

Cala d’en Serra in Ibiza – a picturesque bay with crystal-clear water and a tranquil atmosphere
3. Insider tip Ibiza: Cala d’en Serra
Few bays on Ibiza feel so secluded and yet so harmonious. Cala d’en Serra is somewhat hidden near Portinatx; the road there is bumpy, and the last stretch is better reached on foot. But below, a small, quiet cove opens up with clear water, flat rocks, and a beach that simply feels good: unfussy, uncluttered, just right.
In the summer months, there's a small beach bar here serving fish and seafood, loungers, and parasols. If you prefer things simple, bring your own and find a spot on the rocks. The shallow entry and calm water make Cala d’en Serra a place where you'll linger—not for the comfort, but for the moment.
4. Insider tip Ibiza: Punta Galera
Punta Galera is not your typical beach: Stacked rock slabs, seemingly laid by hand, slope down to the sea in terraces. Anyone who sits here is immediately removed from everything: no noise, no activity, no movement – just water, stone, and sky.
The entrance to the sea is rocky, but the water is clear and deep blue. Many people arrive in the late afternoon – when the light softens and the sun slowly disappears behind the horizon. Punta Galera is not a place for the perfect beach day. But perhaps it is a place for a perfect evening.

The mix of creative design, authentic music, and a relaxed atmosphere makes Las Dalias a place where you'll want to linger. It's almost like a mini festival visit in your everyday life.
The market takes place on Saturdays all year round from 10 a.m. and from October to May also on Sundays from 10 a.m. During the high season from June to September, there are also night markets on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays (from 7 p.m. until approximately midnight). Santa Eulària des Riu – relaxed coastal town on Ibiza with maritime flair and Mediterranean scenery
7. Ibiza Insider Tip: Santa Eulària des Riu
Santa Eulària des Riu is one of Ibiza's secret spots, one that doesn't hide away, yet is often overlooked. This charming coastal town on the east coast seems more understated than many other island towns: with a well-kept promenade, small cafés, galleries, and a relaxed atmosphere that you immediately sense. Those who prefer Ibiza to a quieter, more noisy experience will quickly feel at home here.
A stroll along the coast is particularly worthwhile in the morning, when the city is still asleep and the light lies softly over the water. For those who want to stay longer, we have suitable holiday homes in Santa Eulària.

The church is part of a whole series of special spiritual places on Ibiza. Anyone interested in architecture, history, or simply beautiful places with a view shouldn't miss it: More about churches & cathedrals on Ibiza.

9. Insider tip for Ibiza: Sunrise at Cala de Sant Vicent
While many people on Ibiza focus on the sunset, getting up early on the east coast is worth it. Cala de Sant Vicent is one of the few places where you can experience the sunrise directly over the sea.
In the morning, the beach is often deserted, the water is clear, and the promenade is almost untouched. Those seeking peace and quiet or wanting to start the day with purpose will find a moment here that seems longer than it lasts.
10. Insider Tip Ibiza: Arc de Pedra Hike
The Arc de Pedra is a natural wonder with symbolic significance: a heart-shaped rock arch that blends perfectly into the backdrop of sky and sea. The hike there takes only 15–20 minutes and is also suitable for families with children. Looking through the arch, the water glows a deep blue, and directly behind it, Es Vedrà rises out of the sea. A spot that's more than just beautiful: it's impressive.
What makes this place so special is the view of the entire panorama: from the legendary rocky island to the Bay of Atlantis with its stone peace sign. If you arrive here at the right time, perhaps at sunset, you'll experience a moment that will last forever. Ideal for a photo, but really too good not to see for yourself.
11. Insider Tip Ibiza: Galleries & Studios
Ibiza is not just a place of nature, but also a place of creativity. Those open to art and design will discover small galleries, studios, and spaces that showcase far more than just vacation motifs. Many of them are hidden in villages or courtyards. In our article Art, Galleries & Studios on Ibiza we present special places worth a visit. Ideal for quiet hours between the beach and dinner – or for those who prefer browsing to shopping.

12. Ibiza Insider Tip: Sa Punta Fine Dining
Sa Punta is located on the edge of Talamanca Bay. It's just a few minutes from Ibiza Town, but gives you the feeling of being somewhere else entirely. The sea views, the elegant setting, and the distinct style of the cuisine make the restaurant one of the most stylish spots on the island.
What makes Sa Punta special is its diversity: Mediterranean cuisine in the main restaurant, Asian fusion at "Ginger," and Lebanese dishes on the rooftop terrace "Patchwork." Each concept has its own atmosphere – from modern and sophisticated to colorful and relaxed. A place for all those who love good food and like to look further afield.
13. Ibiza Insider Tip: Cami de Balafia
Cami de Balafia is a rustic restaurant in the island's interior – inconspicuously located, but legendary among connoisseurs. A shady olive grove, simple wooden tables, no menu – but a clear selection that has barely changed in decades. They serve what the family recommends: lamb chops, chicken, rabbit, or entrecôte – grilled over charcoal, cooked to perfection, without compromise.
If you want to experience pure Ibiza cuisine, without the fuss and frills, you'd better book early – or get lucky. An evening at Cami de Balafia is sure to stick with you!
14. Ibiza Insider Tip: Es Boldado
Es Boldado is located above Cala d'Hort – with a view you won't soon forget. The restaurant sits on a cliff, directly opposite the legendary island of Es Vedrà, and seems built for the sunset. Family-run for over 30 years, Es Boldado is one of the island's constants.
On the plate, you'll find what the sea has to offer: fish, seafood, paella – pure in flavor, without fuss. Particularly popular: the "Bullit de Peix," a traditional fish stew with rice. Anyone who wants to eat here should make a reservation – not because of the hype, but because a table with a view is rarely available.
15. Ibiza Insider Tip: El Bigotes
El Bigotes is an original – not a concept restaurant, but a piece of island history. Located right on the water, between rocks and old fishermen's huts, stands a simple restaurant with wooden tables, a sea view, and one simple reason why it's fully booked every day – because of the legendary "Bullit de Peix." It's cooked over a fire, served at 2 p.m. – and by reservation only.
On the menu? Almost nothing. Those who arrive early get fried fish. Those who arrive late get nothing at all. The owner: taciturn, distinctive, with a large mustache. And yet – or perhaps precisely because of this – El Bigotes is one of the most authentic places on Ibiza. Those who sit there eat perhaps the best fish on the island. And while gazing at the sea, it seems as if it were made just for this moment.
