The most beautiful pleasure tours at a glance

East Belgium's pleasure tours are more than just simple hiking trails – they are adventure routes that lead you through impressive nature. Whether along clear streams, through deep forests, or past traditional farms: Here, nature experiences and scenic diversity go hand in hand.

Down There Flows a River – Pleasure Tour near Ouren (9.1 km)

This circular tour near Ouren is one of the most scenically impressive pleasure tours in East Belgium. Even the start through the village has a calming effect – if you follow the path to the church, you'll quickly leave everyday life behind. As soon as the asphalt ends, it becomes green and quiet: the path winds through the Our Valley, flanked by rocks, forests, and sweeping views of the Eifel Mountains. The route is varied: sometimes narrow and shady along the water, then again over open meadows and small inclines. Along the way, there are numerous natural moments that invite you to pause for a moment – such as the point where Belgium, Germany, and Luxembourg meet. A special highlight is the view after the first climb: rolling hills and a mosaic of fields and forests as far as the eye can see.

Length: 9.1 km | Duration: approx. 2:30 h Difficulty: Moderate | Best time: March–November Starting point: Ouren village center (near the church) Dogs: allowed, but dogs must be kept on a leash

Our guests say:

"I never thought a river could calm me so much." Svenja (34) was traveling in East Belgium for the first time and simply sat for a while after crossing the border triangle. "I just watched the water flow. No signal, no noise, just the gentle rippling and this incredible expanse. That was my moment."

The Eifel in View – Panoramic Hike near Burg-Reuland (12.8km)

This leisurely hike begins directly at the former L47 railway line – now part of the RAVeL trail network – and leads along the Our River through one of the most impressive river landscapes in East Belgium. Right from the start, there's a fascinating contrast: on the left, the valley with a view of Steffeshausen, on the right, the quiet forest slopes. The trail climbs gently and soon offers expansive views of the Eifel: clear, tranquil, almost untouched. In the valley, you'll be surrounded by wet meadows, home to herons and other wading birds. The air is filled with the scent of meadow flowers as the trail continues to wind its way uphill. A simple hiking hut awaits you on the ridge, both unexpected and welcome. Afterwards, the route descends briskly towards Burg-Reuland, past historic buildings, and back to the starting point at the Tourist Information Center.

Length: 12.8km | Duration: approx. 3:35 hours Difficulty: Medium | Best time: March–November Starting point: At the "Peckeneck", under a house towards the RAVeL (Railway Route) Destination: Burg-Reuland Tourist Information Dogs: allowed, but must be kept on a leash Special features: Natural diversity along the Our River, views of the Eifel, encounters with regional flora and fauna

Our guests say:

"The moment in the hiking hut was almost magical." Peter (59) was hiking with his daughter. Both were looking for a break from everyday life. "We just sat there quietly, overlooking the valley. Neither of us spoke, and that was exactly what we needed. This hut in the middle of nowhere was our highlight."**

Through the Kutenhart Fens – A leisurely hike through the forests near Petergensfeld (15.3 km)

This tour is not for casual use! It requires concentration, surefootedness, and stamina. But those who commit to it will be rewarded with a unique natural backdrop. The hike starts at the Petergensfeld car park and leads along narrow paths into the quiet, sometimes wild landscape of the High Fens. After just a few kilometers, the terrain changes: ferns, tall grass, and gnarled trees line the path, and the terrain becomes more pristine. On the way to the source of the Eschbach stream, you pass a dried-up riverbed: a silent witness to the changing seasons. Further east, the barren expanse of the Kutenhart Fens begins. One of the quietest places along the route is the former Reinartzhof, an abandoned hamlet with a turbulent history that nature has long since reclaimed. What remains is an impressive blend of history, isolation, and the primal power of the landscape.

Length: 15.3 km | Duration: approx. 3:45 h Difficulty: High | Best time: April to November Start/Finish: Petergensfeld parking lot Special features: Narrow paths, unspoiled landscape Dogs: Not allowed

Our guests say:

"I've rarely heard so much silence." Lea (27) did the tour alone and was impressed by the landscape around the abandoned Reinartz farm. "There were no sounds out there except wind and footsteps. And yet there was so much history. I've rarely felt so connected to a place."

Along the Bayehon River - Pleasure Tour near Longfaye (12.6 km)

This circular tour is one of the most scenically diverse routes in eastern Belgium. From the village of Longfaye, a steep path leads down into the valley, where the Bayehon Stream – a wild Fen stream – winds its way through mossy ground and between pine roots. The trail runs over wooden bridges and narrow paths, past small puddles and gravelly sections, until, after a short climb, the highlight of the tour appears: the nine-meter-high Bayehon waterfall.

The second part of the route continues uphill to the "Old Oak," a well-known natural landmark on the edge of the high plateau. Across vast moorland and quiet forest sections, you approach the stream's source. In the Fagne de Setay, you experience a typical High Fen landscape with sedge, blueberry bushes, and bergenia – a biotope more reminiscent of alpine regions than the Belgian Eifel.

Length: 12.6 km | Duration: approx. 3:20 h Difficulty: Moderate | Best time: April–December Start/Finish: Longfaye | Highlights: Bayehon Waterfall, moorland, rustic forests Suitable for: Families | Dogs: allowed

Our guests say:

"The waterfall was my turning point." **Rafi (41), a nature-loving amateur photographer, was about to put away his camera – until he stood at Bayehon. "I was in a bad mood that day. But when I stood in front of the waterfall, everything changed. I took photos, breathed, and let go."
